Abstrakt

Nauka obywatelska ewoluowała, przybierając wiele postaci dyscyplinarnych, aby w końcu stać się nowym obszarem nauki oraz partycypacyjną metodą badawczą. Podczas gdy większość projektów nauki obywatelskiej realizuje się w obrębie rozwiązujących problemy nauk przyrodniczych, nauki społeczne i humanistyczne pomagają zrozumieć wymiar ludzki i otwierają szerokie spektrum metodologiczne, które wzbogaca perspektywy poznawcze i zwiększa partycypację społeczną. W niniejszym artykule wykorzystujemy podejście meta-syntezy, aby zbadać, w jaki sposób badania obywatelskie są praktykowane w naukach społecznych i humanistycznych, na które dotychczas kładziono mniejszy nacisk. Koncentrujemy się na roli obywateli, przyjmowanych przez nich celach i podejściach do projektów, zadaniach, w które się angażują i korzyściach, jakie mogą odnieść w wyniku realizacji projektów o różnym podłożu dyscyplinarnym. Nasze ustalenia wskazują, że dociekania społeczne zyskują większe uznanie w ramach interdyscyplinarnych projektów nauki obywatelskiej poprzez zajmowanie się "wrednymi”[1] [wicked] przejawami ludzkiego zachowania i sprawczości, podczas gdy nauki humanistyczne są na etapie poszukiwania swojego miejsca w obrębie nauki obywatelskiej. Stwierdzamy, że nauki społeczne i humanistyczne wciąż napotykają na znaczne przeszkody w przenikaniu do nauki obywatelskiej; korzyści w kilku określonych gałęziach są jednak już teraz znaczne i satysfakcjonujące.
