SYNAT: many huge and small ideas for scientific information

Abstract

SYNAT Project has been realized since 2010 as a new framework for the national system of scientific information. The author has reviewed topics of SYNAT and has came to conclusion that the project has been dominated by monographic IT scientific descriptions. However the methodology, thanks to which this effort could create synergy required for fundamental reforms of the existing institutions, procedures or functionalities is not clear. Despite the lack of detailed information about SYNAT or significant interest of its authors in traditional bottom-up and local initiatives, librarians are willing to perceive this mark positively. Moreover, intellectual potential of researchers who develop SYNAT lets  hope for at least some innovative solutions which will significantly strengthen the influence of scientific information on the effectiveness of  scientific research in Poland.
