Use of the collection module of the VTLS/Virtua System in the Library of the University of Gdańsk

Abstract

The aim of this article is to present the collection module of the VTLS/Virtua system and its use in everyday work of the Acquisition and Collection Development Department in the Library of the University of Gdańsk. The article describes the process of placing purchase orders, recording acquisitions and discusses the possibility of introducing corrective invoices. The author presents the advantages and disadvantages of the module implementation. The material was prepared based on the experiences of the Acquisition and Collection Development Department staff in 2011-2012. The work closes with a short report from the workshop on the collection module organized by the Library in April 2012.
