Formal and organizational side of digital library services based on the LIBSMART implementation
Abstract
IT development, a market dominated by mobile devices, a variety of software and applications – all of these issues create new possibilities for designing and implementing digital library services. The article presents the formal and the organizational side of implementing path-breaking LIBSMART applications: LIBSMART PAYMENT, which allows to pay fees charged by the library online; LIBSMART COPY, which allows ordering digital copies of traditional library resources and is fully synchronized with the library system. The author describes the process of creating e-services; he starts with a general vision and finishes with the implementation stage, which is the final stage of work and the first stage of promotion. Current legal provisions which apply for using abovementioned services were analyzed and interpreted. The author makes an attempt to answer the question whether the library is of value for commercial companies and where to look for potential common fields in mutual cooperation.
