Abstract

The article presents the historical background behind the establishment of legal deposit in Poland. The author describes the most important laws and regulations passed by the Polish authorities and points out the issues which influenced the book market at the time. It is an attempt to point out the causes and most important changes in the issue of legal deposit, taking into consideration the social, financial and economic conditions.
