A trained systems librarian

  • Aleksander Radwański

Abstract

In Poland, despite 30 years of experience in library computerization, the work of a systems librarian has not emerged as an academic specialty with its own academic course. There is no such specialty within the scope of library and information science (LIS) studies, and the workshop training largely depends on individual cases. As a result, systems librarians comprise a diverse group, both education-wise and in terms of professional duties. The situation could be improved by defining the field of knowledge and systematic training.
