Abstract

The author presents the project "Digitisation of the most valuable medieval manuscripts of the Nicolaus Copernicus University Library" carried out at the University Library in Torun in 2013 from the grants of the Ministry of Culture and National Heritage as part of the program "Preservation and digitisation of cultural heritage". The author discusses the various phases of the project: selection of 19 manuscripts (11th-15th century) from a collection of 72 medieval manuscripts, library conservation, scanning and data processing, publication in Kujawsko-Pomorska Digital Library, promotion of digital collections. The author discusses its content: manuscripts included in the project come from the former National and University Library in Królewiec (Königsberg), and among them the codices from the old order's libraries. The author highlights the priceless value of scanned manuscripts belonging to the German-Polish and European cultural heritage, as well as preservation and dissemination of the collection created in the project.
