Community archive and locals in Raszyn
Abstract
From 2013 in the public library in Raszyn near Warsaw there is a community archive that is part of the network of Cyfrowe Archiwa Tradycji Lokalnej (CATL). The article describes the experience of building a documentation centre at the institution, that previously did not have a similar project. Among the issues that received most attention are: collaboration between librarians and the environment, building from the ground up a group of supporters of community archiving, supporting mutual relationships, coordination of meetings with the local community and cooperation between the library and local media. The article has been enriched by examples and statements by members of the community to illustrate their reaction to the library’s initiative.
